dermal filler

Dermal fillers treatment involves injecting hyaluronic acid gel filler under the skin with an ultra fine needle to enhance facial features and plump and fill lines, grooves or sunken areas. The fillers are completely natural and safe to use.  We use high quality soft fill fillers which disperse naturally over time in the skin.

Administered correctly by a fully qualified aesthetic practitioner, dermal fillers can be used to naturally smooth, soften, contour and tone the skin, restoring youthful plumpness to enhance and define your features.

During your consultation we will ask you a series of questions to make sure you are suitable for the dermal filler treatment. We will be able to answer any questions you may have about your skin concerns and give you personalised advice. If you decide to proceed with the filler treatment, we will carry out the treatment after your consultation.

From lip fillers to cheek fillers we can enhance, restore and define your natural features.  Fillers can be used to lift and tighten the skin giving you a more youthful appearance.

We offer the following types of dermal filler treatments:

Cheek fillers – add volume and lift to your cheeks. By giving volume to the cheeks this can also help to lift the jawline.

Lip fillers – To add extra volume, plumpness to lips. Lip fillers give an appearance of juicy, hydrated and fuller, more youthful lips.

Nasolabial and marionette lines – This is a fantastic dermal filler treatment that plumps the Jowell lines and helps to lift the sides of mouth. This treatment can literally take years off your face!

The actual injection of the filler is not painful at all, but as the filler goes into the skin this can feel like a slightly tingle to a stinging sensation. This goes away very quickly and is not painful.

Will you be able to numb the area?

Yes we use anaesthetic cream on all areas before we treat you. This will definitely help you to feel more comfortable.

What will the area look like afterwards?

You may have some swelling after your treatment, particularly with more sensitive areas like lips.  Occasionally, if you have never had fillers before or your skin is very sensitive, you may have some bruising afterward. This can last for up to 10 days.

Will I need a touch up?

You will need a 2 week review after your treatment. This is to top the areas up and to check your treatment.

Treatment care

  • After treatment, slight redness, swelling, itching and some tenderness at the site of the injections may occur. This is normal and will generally disappear over the next 24-48 hours. When the lips have been treated, the swelling can last for up to 1 week, and the lips may appear uneven during this time. Please follow massage techniques shown each day to balance any areas that appear uneven.

  • Avoid touching the treated area for 6 hours. After this, the face can be lightly cleansed and make-up applied lightly and gently (preferably mineral make-up).

  • Apply some ice to the area if tender/swollen – such as an ice lolly.

  • Avoid alcohol the day before / 24 hours after.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise right after the treatment for up to 48 hours.

  • If possible, avoid direct sunlight and wear a sunscreen (sun may reduce the duration of the effect of the product plus prevents sun damage)

  • Avoid gym/sunbed/saunas for 24 hours post treatment.

  • Massage the area with a moisturiser to reduce any areas that appear lumpy.

  • Avoid creams with Alpha Hydroxy Acid or Glycolic acid around the area.

  • Patients taking aspirin, clopidogrel, warfarin and other blood thinning medications should be aware that there will be increased likelihood of bleeding or bruising at injection sites.
  • If itching or swellings occur, a general over the counter antihistamine can be taken for a period of one week.
  • Arnica cream/capsules can be taken to help prevent bruising.

  • No alcohol at least 24 hours before undergoing your injectable treatment,  Alcohol thins the blood and may cause you to bleed or to bruise.

Avoid medications such as blood thinners or anti – inflammatory

Do not shave in the area you will be treated. Do not wax or have any laser or facial treatments.

Avoid products like retinol, glycolic acid and AHA on the area for at least 1 week prior to your treatment
