ipl laser hair reduction

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair reduction and removal works by targeting the hair follicle with an intense beam of laser energy light. The energy is absorbed into the hair follicle to damage and destroy it which helps to prevent the unwanted hair from growing back. We use an IPL super hair removal machine, which is the latest technology. The treatment is completely safe and effective.

The treatment is comfortable with the feeling being alike to a camera flash lamp against the skin. The IPL wavelength will target the melanin in the hair absorbing the colour of the hair shaft to give a good result.  The treatment is completely safe and effective and will cause no damage to the skin.

We treat both men and women for IPL.

Frequently asked questions

How long will it take for hair to fall out?

The treated hair should fall out within around 2 – 3 weeks of each treatment. When the hair falls, you will experience a hair free and reduced period for several weeks.  When the hair returns you will be due for your next visit, and carry on with further treatments until the hair stops growing.

Is it painful?

Laser hair removal is not an uncomfortable treatment. It can feel slightly warm and similar to a camera flash. This sensation is only whilst the laser light is hitting the skin and is barely noticeable.

Some areas on the body may be more sensitive, such as the pubic area and the sensation my feel slightly more uncomfortable. In the instance we will adjust the settings to make sure you are as comfortable as possible during your treatment.

How many sessions will I need?

We advise to have at least 6-10 effective treatments spaced 4-12 weeks apart. Your hair grows in an anagen hair cycle and this will mean you will need several sessions in order to target all hair on any face or body area.

Hair cycle length varies on body part.  The face will usually require more frequent treatments, usually between 4 – 6 weeks week apart.  The body areas such as legs or back will need less frequent visits between 6-10 weeks apart.

We always advise a top up maintenance course each 12 -18 months to keep on top of your hair reduction.  This is because hormones and other factors can create more growth over time.

During your course we would ask that you do not pluck, tweeze, wax or use any hair removal creams.
