Profhilo

Profhilo is an injectable anti-ageing treatment made from hyaluronic acid for skin that is losing its elasticity and firmness with age. It can be used on the face, neck, decollete, arms, hands and knees, or any part of your body where the skin shows visible signs of ageing.

Results

Results appear usually after about four weeks and increase over time with new collagen and elastin forming. The effects are long-lasting. They typically last around 6 months and the feedback from our patients to date has been fantastic.

As with any injectable treatment, there are minor risks, including bruising and swelling, however, these are very rare. The procedure is very quick and the needle used to administer the treatment is very fine so most patients do not feel any discomfort. Another bonus is that there is no downtime afterwards. This means you are fine to resume your everyday activities as soon as you leave the clinic.

The treatment is suitable for anyone because it uses a substance that is naturally occurring within the skin.

Benefits of Profhilo:

Improvement in tissue quality

Skin remodelling

Treatment of skin laxity

Restore skin firmness

Indications that this treatment may be right for you:

You have skin that is lacking in elasticity.

Your skin is thin and lacks volume and plumpness.

You have skin crepiness.

You are noticing lines and wrinkles.

You have dehydrated, sun damaged skin.

You would like to prevent early signs of skin ageing.

So what does Profhilo® treatment involve and what benefits does it offer?

Profhilo® usually consists of two five point treatments, one month apart. There are also follow up/ top-up treatments every six months, in order to maintain the results.

The treatment has many benefits:

It stimulates the skin to produce youth-boosting collagen and elastin.

It enhances stem cell reproduction.

Lines and wrinkles appear less noticeable.

It can reverse the appearance of skin laxity (looseness and drooping) which tends to happen as we age.

The skin appears more healthy and vibrant.

Profhilo® is very versatile and can be used almost anywhere on the body. Areas where you are seeking to add lost volume and reduce “crepey-ness” are the most common ones. These include the face, neck, décolletage, upper arms, hands and lip line. There is also a specially designed 5-point pattern across the face to achieve an overall non-surgical facelift effect.

SuneKos

Ideal for those who want to restore the naturally youthful look of your skin and improve signs of ageing, SuneKos is an injectable treatment that’s entirely different to filler treatments; this treatment uses a patented formula which combines amino acids (the essential building blocks of elastin and collagen) with hyaluronic acid. SuneKos regenerates the Extra Cellular Matrix (ECM) of your skin and deeply hydrates and plumps the treated tissue. This leads to ‘dermal biogenesis’. The result? A reduction in the severity of your wrinkles, hydration to both the superficial and deep layers of your skin, a desirable volumising effect and a dramatic boost to your elastin and collagen.

This treatment is ideal if you have loose, crepey, thin skin and/or a loss of volume around your eyes. It is also suited to help with lines, wrinkles, crepiness, volume-loss and laxity on your neck and face. SuneKos can significantly regenerate your ageing skin and restore a natural-looking, youthful appearance.

Jalupro

Skin boosting or bio-remodelling involves the use of injectable high grade Hyaluronic Acid products using small needles to improve structure, texture and overall appearance of the skin. Combining cocktails such as Amino Acids and Hyaluronic Acids plump and restore youthfulness of the skin, but do not ‘fill’ like traditional Dermal Filler, which add volume or change facial shape and contours.

Deep penetration into the epidermis, to stimulate fibroblast proliferation, collagen synthesis and elastin production. This significantly improves skin tone, radiation, hydration and the quality of the skin. The results are noticeable very quickly and skin boosting is fast becoming the treatment of choice to achieve natural looking skin rejuvenation.

Toskani TKN HA3

TKN HA 3 known as Toskani Hyaluronic Acid-3, is a non cross linked Hyaluronic Acid skin enhancer from the second generation. Hyaluronic Acid is a highly sensitive molecule that can hold up to 1000 times its own molecular weight in water, making it perfect for skin hydration. This gives you a plumper, younger-looking complexion. It also encourages the development of collagen and elastin to improve your skin for the better.

Plumps and smooths lines & wrinkles.

The most advanced method of replacing lost moisture to the skin.

Provides nutrients to all levels of the skin.

Reverses the damage caused by free radicals

Lightens pigmentation

Helps diminish the appearance of acne scarring

Allows your entire face and neck to be treated in a single session, with particular attention paid to your individual areas of concern.

Allows you to return to a normal lifestyle immediately, with no down time or interruption to your daily routine. And you really can see a difference after the very first treatment!

Frequently asked questions

I have lost some volume in my face but don’t want to look like I’ve had work done. Is this possible to achieve with the a skin booster treatment?

It is possible to achieve subtle volume replacement in treated areas; however, results depend on where you have lost volume and to what degree. The profhilo treatment will not give you the volume replacement needed for concerns such as a cheek augmentation where your fat pads have significantly lost volume; instead, you may achieve this with dermal fillers, for example.

A consultation is a vital part of your treatment process so that you can have your concerns assessed and matched with the most appropriate treatment(s) for you to consider.

I’m thinking of having surgical treatment for my ageing skin, should I have a skin booster treatment instead?

Any non-surgical treatment is not a replacement for a surgical alternative. That is not to say that you won’t benefit from a Profhilo treatment, but you will not get the same results as you would with surgery. You may like to consider non-invasive aesthetic treatments following your surgical procedure to improve your skin laxity further and help to maintain your results.

Non-surgical treatments can be great alternatives for invasive surgical procedures, particularly if you do not require dramatic intervention or if you do not or cannot have surgical treatment. However, it is very important to remember that a non-surgical treatment will produce different, often more subtle, results than cosmetic surgery.

Are there side effects to skin booster treatments?

Mild swelling and bruising are the most common potential side effects immediately following treatment.

Consultations are an important part of the treatment process in allowing you to understand the treatment and to establish if the benefits of the treatment are outweighed by any possible side effects. During a consultation, your characteristics, such as your area of concern and your medical status, will be assessed. Your medical practitioner will be able to discuss whether this treatment is appropriate for you, as well as any suitable alternative treatments.

We will discuss any possible side effects, questions you may have about the chosen skin booster treatment and any aftercare you should adhere to prior to you having treatment.

If I don’t have a skin booster treatment again, will I look worse than I did before?

No. The product will gradually wear off and your natural ageing process will continue. This treatment does not stop that natural ageing process.

How long does a skin booster treatment last?

As with most treatments, this can vary depending on where you have treated, your lifestyle and your metabolic rate; these factors usually influence the longevity of your results. For example, in our experience, those who smoke or frequently do cardio work-outs can break-down hyaluronic acid faster than those who do not.

The guidelines are to have maintenance treatments four to seven months after your full treatment.

Does the treatment hurt?

The level of discomfort is usually found to be mild and tolerable by patients. The most common feedback we receive is that some injections can feel like small ‘stings’. We understand that that each person’s tolerance to pain is different however and are happy to offer our patients additional local anaesthetic cream prior to the procedure should this be a concern of yours.

What’s the difference between Profhilo and Sunekos?

There are many similarities between Profhilo and Sunekos but, in our experience, Sunekos is generally better suited for skin with more advanced signs of ageing.

Both treatments are a new type of injectable treatment completely different from skin boosters, mesotherapy and dermal fillers; they trigger a process in the skin called bio-remodelling.

The Profhilo product contains high concentrations of hyaluronic acid (HA) which deeply hydrates the treated tissue to help with signs of skin ageing and sagging skin as it stimulates your natural collagen and elastin production. The Clinics’ practitioners use Profhilo to refresh the skin, firm and smooth skin and give skin its’ ‘glow’ back.

Profhilo can be used on the body, face and neck. On the face Profhilo is used to treat the neck or mid to lower face only; the Profhilo protocol that’s followed enables the treatment to be best effective and is only used to treat those specific areas.

Usually, a single Profhilo treatment is made up of two separate sessions spaced approximately thirty days apart. Some people require a third session if their signs of ageing are more developed; this would be discussed upon assessment. Profhilo treatment is generally repeated after 6 months to maintain the results if desired.

The SuneKos product contains HA as well as powerful amino acids. Amino acids are proteins which help to firm and strengthen the skin whilst the HA deeply hydrates the treated tissue. SuneKos stimulates fibroblast activity in the Extra Cellular Matrix (ECM) which results in new collagen and elastin being produced.

The Clinics’ practitioner’s preference is to use Sunekos to refresh, firm and smooth the skin and give skin its’ ‘glow’ back in those who have more advanced signs of skin ageing.

SuneKos is able to treat signs of ageing on the forehead and around the eyes as well as the centre and peripherals of the face. SuneKos is able to treat concerns around the mouth, for example, lines above the top lip as well be used to volumise the tissue. SuneKos has 2 strengths of the product; SuneKos ‘200’ has a low molecular weight which can be used around the eyes and forehead and SuneKos ‘1200’ which has a medium molecular weight and is used in the centre of the face and peripherals of the face.

A treatment of SuneKos is usually made up of four sessions which are spaced seven to ten days apart. The SuneKos treatment can be repeated after approximately eight to nine months to maintain the results if desired.

In our experience, whilst anyone can have both Profhilo or SuneKos it is our opinion that generally speaking Profhilo is well suited for those whose signs of skin ageing are that of a forty-year-old or less. Sunekos is usually better suited for slightly more challenging, sun damage, crepy skin.

Both Profhilo and SuneKos have an excellent profile and we’ve seen very pleasing results from both products. Your practitioner will discuss with you which treatment they feel your skin is best suited for you upon assessment.

Treatment care

PRE-TREATMENT CARE

PRE-TREATMENT CARE

We recommend taking Arnica tablets one week before and one week after treatment. Two tablets three times a day. These are available from most pharmacies.

We recommend that no alcohol is consumed 24 hours before and after treatment.

We do prefer patients to come to their appointment with minimal make-up to the areas that are going to be treated

Any previous medical and cosmetic / aesthetic procedure history. Current regular medications.

We advise cold-sore sufferers to take Acyclovir tablets seven days before their treatment appointment to prevent an outbreak. If you have a cold-sore we CANNOT treat you, please contact the customer service team.

For 24 hours before your treatment appointment it is advised that you avoid anti-inflammatory pain killers like Ibuprofen and Aspirin. Paracetamol is fine to take and the only pain relief we advise you to take 24 hours before and after treatment.

There are no restrictions on flying but we do ask all patients to try and stay in the country for at least 72 hours, preferably two weeks after the treatment appointment. We do advise you to avoid extreme heat for two weeks after the treatment.

We recommend that you do not have treatment 4-6 weeks before or after any dental treatment. If you are undergoing any dental work please make the doctor aware of this at consultation or treatment appointment.

POST-TREATMENT CARE

POST-TREATMENT CARE

It is normal for the skin to be red around the area of injection but also white around the area where the anaesthetic cream/injection was applied. This should only last a few hours.

Lumps can occasionally occur when the dermal filler absorbs water from the body and swells. For the first 24 hours after treatment these lumps can easily be massaged away (between finger and thumb). Don’t massage lumps that you cannot see as this will only displace your filler.

Rarely numbness and/or tingling over the site of injection may occur for a few days.

Bruising is the most common complication of treatment. You can reduce bruising by applying ice; it is ok to cover up bruising with concealer/makeup the next day.

Avoid applying makeup over the injection sites for 12 hours. This is to reduce the already small risk of skin infection.

Often superficial lines in the face are ‘highlighted’ in pink or red following treatment. This effect will settle within a few days.

Until the initial swelling and redness have resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (i.e. solarium, sauna or sunbathing).

If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores. This question is on the consent form.

If you are using aspirin, clopidogrel, warfarin or similar medication, be aware that these may increase the bruising or bleeding at the injection site
